Synopse: Vrán
Poezie dává prostor imaginaci a vybízí čtenáře k dourčování, film je naopak „doslovný“. Když se v básni objeví kopec, je na čtenáři, zdali na jeho úbočí vyklíčí stromy. Film možnost výběru nedává. Když čteme báseň, je nám její autor jako konkrétní osoba lhostejný, není třeba znát jeho podobu, jeho rozpoložení. Plátno nabízí možnost předložit „básníka“ jako osobu, může mu do úst vložit vlastní slova - činí ho ve své obraznosti člověkem, i kdyby na úkor básně. Cílem tohoto krátkého filmu ale není adaptace poesie, jeho snahou je ukázat básníka a básnířku (Ted Hughes, Sylvia Plath), kteří poesií mluví, vedou hádky nebo si vyznávají lásku. Film je i není historickým portrétem manželů. Báseň ustupuje a objevuje se básník.
Synopsis: Vrán
Poetry provides space for imagination and invites the reader to fill in the blanks, whereas film is “literal”. If a hill appears in a poem, it is up to the reader whether trees will sprout on its sides. Film does not permit us such choices. When reading a poem, we do not care about the author as an actual person, there is no need for knowing his or her appearance or the frame of mind. Screen offers the possibility to introduce the poet as an actual person, putting his or her own words into his or her mouth – within the poetics of the screen the author becomes “man,” even if edging the poem off. This short film however does not aim to be a poetry adaptation but an effort to show two poets (Ted Hughes, Sylvia Plath) speaking, having arguments and professing their love to each other within their poetry. The film is and is not a historical portrait of a husband and wife. The poem withdraws while a poet emerges.
